In July of 1975, the first Mobile Intensive Care Paramedic ambulance in San Diego County went into service at Santee Fire District Station 1 (now fs4). The crew consisted of one Santee and one Lakeside Firefighter-Paramedic. This was the beginning of the first and longest-running paramedic program in San Diego County - CSA-69 Heartland Paramedics. To this day, firefighter-paramedics provide ALS transport service to over 120,000 citizens in Lakeside, Santee, and Bostonia.
